It seems like my social life waxes and wanes like the tide, or like the Karate Kid when Miyagi-san is busting his ass in training to fight the good fight. I'll go two months without going to any shows (boooooo), and then realize "what the hell am I doing!?" and will go to a whole bunch of shows in a row. Right now is one of those times. Here are the shows I have seen/will see over a two week period:

Pert' Near Sandstone (friend of a friend of a friend kind of band...not certain about this one) 11/24
Arcade Fire/Haley Bonar 11/25 (would love to go to this, but I think Turkey day festivities might get in the way)

Good stuff. The shows I've been to thus far have been amazing. The Pixies were great, and you could tell they were loving every minute of it on stage. The Iota/Stamps/Acadian show was quite possibly the greatest night of rock ever. EVER. Starflyer was a bit of a let down (only 2 people on stage with bass and key backing tracks...they did it well, but just not that compelling of a show), but Pedro made up for it. Great show, and great q and a session. The show last night was also amazing. Superdanger was very good indie rock, their sound was much bigger than a 3 piece should indicate, with dual vocalists. Throw a couple of synth lines in there and one of their tunes would be a highlight on The Rapture's 'Echoes', which, yes, is definitely a compliment. I continue to be impressed with The Glad Version; not only are they some of the nicest guys out there (and our new practice space mates), but they really rock. Here's to hoping they can push on and keep their vibe going with losing two original members; I have a good feeling that they will be just fine. And finally the Love-Cars. Oh, how I love thee, with thine infrequent shows and uncertain future. Every show could be their last, you never know, so one should, nee, must see them when you can. Silly Hoff and Wicks and their Kubla Khan show. LC did very well last night...two encores, ending one with '24', and finally with 'CMSBFF'. Shit yeah.

Please. For the love, and hope, that this fine country can once again be a country that is respected, not hated; seen as a companion not an enemy; a country that stands for true democracy, vote for John Kerry. Four years of being ruled by a bumbling maniac that is out to get anyone that doesn't buy into his radical right wing agenda and war-mongering is far too many, and we need change badly.

Again, I say please. Let the USA become what it can be...with Kerry as its leader.
